Magistral. Here's the only word we had in mind when we discovered the latest film by the young German directorJoschka Laukeninks. christened "Backstory", the latter tells the story of a life with a simple, effective and very powerful narrative style. The story of a man from his birth, his first memories, his adolescence, his first love ... and the life that happens.
This story is yours and it's ours too. It's the one of everyone in the end, with his moments of joy, his hard knocks, his slaps in the face. All these learnings which makes us understand the true meaning of life once it is already too late.
This ultra-powerful short film will not leave you indifferent. Made in 17 days of shooting over a period of one and a half years, he has already been selected in more than 110 international festivals and rewarded by 30 prices including that of Best Super Shot for the New York City Independent Film Festival.
All his power lies in his gimmick and his narration. Filmed from behind, the baby, child and man that we see evolving will discover life until his death ... and memories will be revealed to him until his last moments. A magnificent hymn to the harshness of this life before which we are all confronted for a short film which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful discoveries of this beginning of the year.
